SAMIFIN - FIU Madagascar, in collaboration with the Eastern and Southern Africa Anti-Money Laundering Group (ESAAMLG), is organizing a training workshop dedicated to the implementation of Targeted Financial Sanctions (TFS) in Antananarivo, from May 18 to 22, 2026.

This initiative aims to strengthen the capacity of national stakeholders to promptly implement asset freeze measures against individuals and legal entities designated by the United Nations Security Council, in accordance with its resolutions and the recommendations of the FATF.

Key points before this workshop:

Madagascar participated in the Eastern and Southern Africa Anti-Money Laundering Group (ESAAMLG) regional workshop on the transparency of beneficial owners of legal entities and structures, held from April 21 to 23, 2026, in Cape Town, South Africa.

The country was represented by the hashtags #SAMIFIN and #RCS.

Supported by SecFin Africa, this workshop enabled member countries to strengthen their knowledge on:
🔹 developments in international standards relating to beneficial owner transparency;

🔹 risk assessment related to legal entities and structures;

The Research and Training Center is actively continuing its training sessions for various national stakeholders.

On April 30 and May 7, the FESTIVAL company benefited from training provided by SAMIFIN on AML/CFT in general, as well as on the fight against corruption. Operating in the clothing sector, the company wanted to raise awareness among its staff about the importance of due diligence measures regarding money laundering and corruption.

On May 7, 2026, in Ambohijanaka, SAMIFIN officially presented the Implementation Plan (PMO) for the National Strategy for Combating Money Laundering, Terrorism Financing, and Proliferation Financing (SNLBC/FT/FP) 2026–2030.

Adopted by the Council of Ministers in November 2025, this strategy aims to make Madagascar a safe and attractive investment destination by 2030 through an effective AML/CFT/FP framework.

During its participation in the 51st meeting of the ESAAMLG Task Force, held in Arusha, Tanzania, from March 23 to 27, 2026, Madagascar made significant contributions on the regional stage.
