During its participation in the 51st meeting of the ESAAMLG Task Force, held in Arusha, Tanzania, from March 23 to 27, 2026, Madagascar made significant contributions on the regional stage.

Madagascar was appointed Deputy Chair of the ESAAMLG, a mark of confidence that reflects the country's growing commitment to regional and international AML/CFT efforts. This appointment strengthens Madagascar's strategic position within the regional framework.

The country also joined the Project Team on Asset Recovery, a key area in the fight against financial crime. This participation will allow Madagascar to actively contribute to discussions and mechanisms aimed at improving the identification, seizure, and recovery of illicit assets.

As co-chair of the project team on the protection of non-profit organizations, Madagascar gave a presentation on the misuse of non-profit organizations (NPOs) in the Eastern and Southern Africa Anti-Money Laundering Group (ESAAMLG). This presentation highlighted the risks of exploiting the non-profit sector for illicit financing. A publication on the implementation of Recommendation 8 was also validated.

Furthermore, Madagascar is also part of the Project Team on modern slavery and human trafficking in the region.

These achievements illustrate not only Madagascar's active involvement but also its commitment to playing a leading role in strengthening financial integrity at the regional level. This participation confirms its growing influence.

The delegation, led by the Training Center Manager of SAMIFIN - FIU Madagascar, Ms. Haja Lalao Razanamanana, was composed of representatives from the Prime Minister's Office, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) of Madagascar, the Central Bank of Madagascar, and SAMIFIN.
